JULY 13, 2021 HYBRID MEETING: Stories of MN's Very Own Olympian Elite
With the Summer Olympics seemingly moving forward and the 2022 Winter Games less than 9 months away, interest is keen about learning and following Minnesota athletes competing at the international level. Several athletes from St. Paul are among the 100+ athletes featured in the two volumes including Minnesota's only five-time Olympian, speedskater Amy Peterson, and former Governor Wendy Anderson. Join us to hear more stories of our elite Olympians from Minnesota from Olympian historian & author, Patrick Mader.

JULY 6, 2021 ROTARY IN REVIEW: Celebrating Rondo
We had a lively hybrid Inspiration Lounge with 20 in attendance at the University Club and another handful online.
Guests of Rotarians: Markus Flynn, the Executive Director of Black Men Teach, a nonprofit that helps black men graduate with teaching degrees and places them in elementary schools in order to increase representation.
New members: Susan Rostkoski, Linda Boss, Shelly Rucks all joined us.
Program: Dawn Selle, Hallie Q Brown Community Center
The center turns 92 years old this year!
With St Paul Rotary's help, Hallie distributed 1,000,000 lbs of food over the last year, meeting an unprecedented need!
Rondo Days won't be taking place this July. (There was not enough planning time after restrictions were lifted.)
But in honor of Rondo Days, Hallie will serve 200 lunches for the elders of the Rondo community on July 15, which would have been the festival kick off day.
In fact, even though the building is closed through December for safety, the Rondo Elders group has been meeting the 3rd week of the month - the only group meeting in the building at this time.
July 17 from 11-2 will be Raising Rondo - sponsored by MN United Firefighters handing out 150 lunches and household items (drive and walk through event)
Historians coming together to create Rondo-opoly lesson on Rondo history
Hallie-ween will be on Oct 25, the Sunday before Halloween.
Building is closed until Jan
MNHS has been helping with archiving, restoring and digitizing photos and records.

Dana Bruce Toast on the Padelford

Join us July 15 to toast Dana Bruce as our outgoing membership director as she "sets sail" on her new adventure in real estate. And, since she's a new member of the club, you'll need two drinks to toast her. So your $40 ticket provides a drink ticket good for 2-4-1 margaritas, taco bar, and sunset cruise on the Jonathan Padelford.

There are only 4 spots left, so book today! Happy hour boarding starts at 5:00, cruise from 6-7:30 pm.

New Membership Category & Minimal Dues Increase Update
Our Club Membership Committee created a task force to review current membership dues categories and rates. Club Treasurer Dave Dominick chaired the taskforce with task force members consisting of PDG Ken Crabb, Heidi Fisher, President Jason Bradshaw, incoming President Todd Nicholson and Dana Bruce.  Objectives of the task force was to review current membership categories, cleanup membership pricing, simplify prices and combine categories when possible.
The pandemic has created more opportunities to keep our members connected and engaged. Your membership provides virtual options to stay connected, 5:01 begins twice a month at the University Club, Club Meetings – getting back to normal or more normal, fellowship & networking, service to Our Community & World plus supporting members impacted by COVID (COVID Relief Plan).
A new membership category has been created.  Rotary Flex Membership category offers to support Under 40, COVID Relief & Senior Active Members into this new membership category. Rotary Flex supports those not ready to come back yet to our in-person club meetings or attending in person is a challenge.  Members utilizing this category will be encouraged to become Individual Active Member after attending 6 luncheons per year (Seniors and under 40’s will be exempt from this request).
Our three categories will be Active, Rotary Flex and Corporate/Duo. Active membership will remain the same at $90 per month. Rotary Flex will be $45 per month which does not include meals. Under 40 will see an increase of $5 per month and Senior Active will see a $10 increase per month. Corporate/Duo will see an increase of $10 per month. New increases will take effect on July 1st.  Current Corporate/Duo rate of $125 remain until December 31, 2021.  Any member paying annually will not see an increase until they renew their dues if their membership category has an increase.
The Club is securing a credit card square for processing meals of guests & Rotary Flex members at our in-person meetings.
Members are asked to pay annually or by monthly auto draft from bank account or credit card. Please make sure your credit card information is up to-date.  If you need help updating your credit card information, please contact Dave Dominick. Any questions about the new membership category or rate increases can be directed to Dave Dominick.
