We take a field trip from the hotel today to the North End Community Center - Saint Paul's newest and most beautiful community hub. (Landmarks you might know: Bradshaw Funeral Home's Rice Street location, the Rice Street Library and Big Mama's Pizza.)

This $30M "palace of the people" was completed within the last few months to fill a huge need for the North End Community - one of Saint Paul's most diverse and low income areas (and one of the most affordable places for a young family to buy a home.) This will be fellowship-forward meeting as we make lunch together in the teaching kitchen with Yer Chang, Rec Leader and Life Skills Class teacher. We'll learn about how the new center is serving the community, get an insight into the work being done by the Rice & Larpenteur Alliance. Weather will determine whether we eat in the big community room with or on the amazing 2nd floor patio with its panoramic views over the park toward the Wellstone School. A short tour of the center will be part of the program. Join us for food, fellowship, community connections and fun with a dash of service!

Please Register HERE by the end of the day on Monday, June 23rd if you plan to attend.

Parking recommendations: the Center is on Rice Street between Lawson and Cook. There is a parking lot off of Lawson and on Lawson Ave. Enter through either the "walk-out level" entrance near the playground down the slope from the parking lot or on Rice Street. Parks staff will be able to direct you to the teaching kitchen.
