Deborah will provide insights into the vast world of art theft. One of her responsibilities as Deputy Assistant Director of the FBI Criminal Investigative Division was to return stolen art works which were recovered by the FBI Art Crime team. Since her retirement, she has continued to research and present programs about art theft which is the third most lucrative illegal business in the world.
 
Deborah Strebel Pierce retired as Deputy Assistant Director of the Criminal Investigative Division of the FBI in 2006. Among her responsibilities was the oversight of the FBI Art Crime Team. Prior to her position in Washington DC, she was the Special Agent in Charge of the Minneapolis Office for three years. Her 27 years in the FBI were spent investigating and managing criminal and terrorism investigations in multiple offices. Since retirement her international contacts have taken her to places such as Tajikistan and Peru to promote leadership for women in public service. She was a founder of the Minneapolis based Pierce-Weber Partnership which provided insights into the FBI and the CIA. Additionally, she served as founder and officer for The Consortium for Women Leaders in Public Service, a nonprofit still operating in Peru. She has served as the Chairperson of the Minnesota-Dakotas Chapter of the Society of Former FBI Agents since 2008. She continues to give presentations about aspects of Art Crime including programs for the Minneapolis Institute of Art.
