Please join us at the Pool & Yacht Club on May 19th as we hear from Tom Baltutis on Rotary's water projects in Uganda.

Tom Baltutis (Ball-too-tis) is a native of Chicago and graduate from Northwestern University where he studied Civil and Environmental Engineering. He is a retired Senior Environmental, Health and Safety Manager who has used multi-disciplinary approaches to solve complex problems working for major corporations such as 3M, Bayer, Johnson Controls, and Ecolab.
Tom and his wife Jennie live in south Minneapolis. Tom is very active in Scouting America (formerly Boy Scouts of America) in which he has roles in local, regional, national and international programs. Because of his background in environmental engineering, Tom has taken a keen interest in Scout groups in Uganda building safe water supplies in villages, which is the subject of his talk today. Tom has also supported many international Scout projects on flood recovery, education, refugee aid, and environmental protection.
Tom has two adult children, Ian and Colleen, who are both Eagle Scouts. Ian runs an internet business. He is the former mayor and is currently a city Council member in Burlington, NC. Colleen is a software development engineer living in Anoka.

Fun facts:
  • Tom and Jennie’s rescue cat is coincidentally named Scout.
  • Tom and two of his brothers once hiked down and up the Grand Canyon in one day, a feat that is definitely not recommended anymore.
  • Pope Leo, when he was an Augustinian seminarian, taught at Tom’s alma mater, St. Rita High School.  Tom and Pope Leo are both avid White Sox fans.
  • Tom’s Whole Grain Bread once took third place in the Minnesota State Fair competition.
