APRIL 9, 2019 PROGRAM:  When Republicans Were Progressive (offsite at 317 on Rice)

Dave Durenberger and Lori Sturdevant will share the story of a Republican Party very different than the one Americans know today. It's the Minnesota Republican Party of 1938-1995 -- a party so willing to stand apart from its national counterpart and chart its own course that for 20 years, it called itself the Independent-Republican Party. They'll describe the characters and characteristics that made that party distinctive, and point to some changes in today's electoral system that might bring a like-minded political force back to Minnesota ballots.
